Your PhD, from day one
At the Vienna BioCenter, your PhD begins immediately with the reason you want to do a PhD in the first place: science. You'll join a lab surrounded by curious, driven people who love what they do — and from day one, you're part of a research group, developing your own project in an environment built to support you.
The research is at the heart of it — spanning molecular mechanisms, genome biology, cell biology, developmental biology, and beyond, across more than 60 groups at four world-leading institutes served by top-notch scientific facilities. And woven around it: a curriculum and training program that builds the skills, independence, and confidence to carry you well beyond your PhD. The 4-5 year fully funded PhD is based on an employment contract with benefits. Furthermore, the campus is beautiful and vibrant, quality of life in Vienna is excellent, and we support student health and wellbeing--there are many reasons to work here!
The Vienna BioCenter PhD Program is a Doctoral school of the University of Vienna and Medical University of Vienna in collaboration with the Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI) and Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) of the Austrian Academy of Science, Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), and the Max Perutz Labs.
