Get to know your fellow postdocs at our yearly networking events! These are organised by the postdoc reps from each institute and create a unique opportunity to form new collaborations and contacts across the Vienna BioCenter. See also: training calendar

Past events:

  • VBC Postdoc Retreat 9-10th October 2025: We visited the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) in Brno, Czechia. We networked with each other and CEITEC postdocs through a poster session and over meals. We also visited the CEITIC facilities, toured the Mendel Museum, and attended a structural biology talk in the long-running series of Mendel Lectures.
  • VBC Postdoc Summer Social 29th June 2025: We hiked up Kahlenberg and enjoyed a well-earned glass of wine at a typical Austrian Heuriger!
  • VBC Postdoc Survey Townhall 28th February 2025: We presented the results of the annual postdoc survey, which were mostly very positive, with a few targeted areas for improvement. This survey is particularly important for organising the most useful training events for the upcoming year.
  • VBC Postdoc Retreat 26-27th September 2024: Our 2 day trip to Naturhotel Steinschalerhof, Warth, included seminars on career opportunities in industry and recruitment, as well as workshops about Science Communication by Malcolm Love and Manel Llado Santaeularia.
  • VBC 3rd Postdoc Networking Day (PoND) 16th April 2024: This day featured exciting talks from our VBC postdocs, a poster session, and many networking opportunities to meet other postdocs on campus.
