Fall Career Focus on Academia: Chalk Talk Lab series
Target audience: postdocs currently on the academic job market

The Chalk Talk Lab is an initiative to prepare for the chalk talk, which is a part of the interview process at many institutes and universities and is something that most of us have little training in. Here you have the opportunity to present your proposal in front of VBC faculty and same career stage peers to get feedback on your presentation.
The Chalk Talk Lab is organized over 3-4 Thursdays at the end of October and middle of November. We will start on October 29th 2026 with a round table discussion and info session, followed by Chalk Talk practices on the following Thursday(s), depending on how many sign up.
To make this training as useful as possible, we ask that you are currently in the process of applying for faculty positions. Based on last year’s feedback we also ask that you provide a written proposal that we can forward to the PIs taking part in your session to help them prepare and make the training as useful as possible for you.
